New Hope receives life line for $900m New Acland Mine expansion.

The Queensland Supreme Court has today set aside findings by the state’s Land Court  that previously ruled that the $900m expansion of the New Acland mine should not proceed because of the risk posed by ground water.

Justice Bowskill upheld a complaint by New Hope in relation to noise and also found a Land Court member had overstepped their authority in assessing the potential impact on groundwater.

The matter will now be sent back to the Land Court for reconsideration.

Approximately 700 jobs are reliant on the project proceeding.
