KGL eyes 2020 construction date for Jervois Project

A base metals mining project northeast of Alice Springs has been given environmental approval despite concerns over the extraction of groundwater and the control of mining waste.

Yahoo News is reporting the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority says the KGL Resources Jervois project can proceed in an acceptable manner, subject to 25 recommendations to mitigate the potential risks.

The proposed mine is a brownfield site previously mined for copper, lead and zinc between 1929 and 1983.

KGL Resources chairman Denis Wood said the company was focussed on starting mine construction in the second quarter of 2020.
