A WIND farm with more than 200 turbines has been ticked off by the Federal Government, greenlighting one of Victoria’s most significant renewable energy projects just 60km out of Geelong.
The Geelong Advertiser is reporting the project is expected to bring more than 700 jobs to the town of Rokewood.
The Federal Government has approved the Golden Plains Wind Farm after the project was also given the nod by the State Government’s Planning Minister early this year.
The $1.5 billion project from proponent Westwind Energy includes plans for 228 wind turbines in the area around the small Golden Plains town of Rokewood.
The wind farm will become one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
