The development, located 680 km north-west of Brisbane near Injune in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, will involve the drilling of 137 new wells and construction of a 140-kilometre gas and water gathering network.
In addition to these works, the project will also include the building of –
- two 4G communication towers;
- a new compression station;
- a 4 ML a day water treatment plant;
- a 5MW gas-fired power station; and
- associated infrastructure and roads.
Santos expects this gas project will create upwards of 300 construction jobs and business opportunities to sustain the Central Highlands region.
This project adds to Santos and GLNG’s pre-existing investments in the region. Santos has $900 million of upstream projects in Central Highlands, Maranoa, Western Downs and Banana regions in Queensland.
This initial phase of the Arcadia will deliver at peak in excess of 75 TJ/day to the gas supply for the GLNG project.
