$225m mining contract expected to create new jobs and business opportunities for the Goldfields

A WA contractor has begun recruiting workers after being awarded a three-year contract with a significant nickel producer.

CIMIC Group’s mining services provider, Thiess, has been awarded a $225m contract with BHP Nickel West to provide mining services at the Rocky’s Reward nickel mine, located 400km north of Kalgoorlie.

The 34-month contract incorporates a further cutback at the Rocky’s Reward pit and works at a satellite pit.

The mining services include mine planning and engineering, drilling and blasting, mining of overburden and ore, and rehandling services to the Leinster processing facility.
